Well, I can no longer say that I am an Eggfest Virgin. Now I just ask myself, why did it take so long to go to one. That was one of the most fun events I have ever attended. If you were there, I was the slider guy. The problem with sliders are....you do NOT get to go around and talk with the other cooks, see what they are doing and maybe pick up a tip or two. If any of you would like to share your recipe.....I would LOVE it. Looking forward to visiting this site more and will be brining with me next year.....3 - 5 other Eggheads! Thanks for the great time and hospitality.
Mike,
Glad to hear you had such a great time - we're making sliders in your honor tonight- my wife (the one with the blond 5yo and 1yo in tow is still raving about your creation - any recipe tips?
Here's the recipe for my favorite Santa Maria Tri-Tip by Morro Bay Rich: http://eggsbythebay.com/Recipes.php. I think next year we should bring sheets with the recipe printed for everyone to assemble into their own cookbook.
Sorry for the late reply. Had an "18" point sales seminar I had to attend Friday afternoon! (Golf) Anyway...its so easy its hard. Get a good quality burger...I like about 15 - 20% fat...can ya tell? Anyway...then get a 2 - 3 oz ice cream scoop. Hammer out some patties...and I actually smash what ever I want in the meat on the patties. In Issaquah...was diced onions and bacon bits. That is all! I cooked at 400 for about 3 min a side..at the end...add a little cheese and presto! Thanks a bunch for the tri-tip! You won it didn't you? Have a GREAT day Sean.
Sean--
Thanks for all the work to get the site up and looking so great. My husband Rusty and I were cooking at the Eggfest and didn't have a lot of time to run around and meet folks so I'm sorry that we didn't get a chance to thank you in person.
It was our second Eggfest and we'll definitely do it again if it returns next year. We had fun. We cooked marinated shrimp skewers, pork tenderloins and whole chickens; we decided to go the easy route and not embarrass ourselves.
Looking forward to hearing more about recipes. When we bought our egg last year I went to the BGE on line forum and dowloaded the recipe book and sent it to a Kinkos to print. Punched holes in it and put it all in a three ring binder--it's an easy way to go tand I keep it with my cook books.
Cheers
Mike, It was both a pleasure and painful at the same time cooking next to you, your sliders definately trumped my chicken balls, I will call you when I get over there in a couple of weeks so we can have a couple of pops and swap recipe's......Troy....P.S. will you send me that recipe so I can make them for my wife.
